Establishing a Memory Fund at Bethany in the name of a special person can commemorate a well-lived life. Donations honor the individual and aid others throughout the Pittsburgh community. We accept donations for the Bethany Hospice/Linda Peterson Memorial Endowed Scholarship offered at Duquesne University School of Nursing.
Memory Fund and Bethany Hospice/Linda L. Peterson Scholarship
The Bethany Memory Fund is comprised of donations from families and friends of patients whom we've served. Family and friends contribute to honor their loved one and to support Bethany's work to aid others in need throughout the greater Pittsburgh area.

The Bethany Hospice / Linda L. Peterson Endowed Scholarship
Linda L. Peterson
The Bethany family suffered a terrible loss in November 2015, when Linda L. Peterson, pioneer of the Bethany Hospice Volunteer Program and our charter Volunteer Coordinator, passed away. She left a remarkable legacy of service worthy of celebration.
About Linda
Linda embodied the spirit of altruism. Intuitively alert to suffering, she committed her life to alleviating the pain and anxiety of others. She was dedicated to causes benefiting our most vulnerable populations including troubled schools, children with special needs, and the humane society. Linda's compassion was unrivaled.
After working for years in the field of elder care, Linda found her most rewarding position as Volunteer Coordinator at Bethany. She worked tirelessly with our volunteers and brought a special touch when it came to matching patients’ backgrounds with volunteer interests and strengths. She was passionate about her work. Only months before her death at the age of 69, Linda was forced to retire from her position at Bethany after illness made it impossible to carry on. Despite Linda's fighting spirit, she left this world too soon.
The Scholarship
Linda Peterson was an amazing woman, and to keep her memory alive, we established The Bethany Hospice / Linda L. Peterson Endowed Scholarship at the Duquesne University School of Nursing. This scholarship will educate future healthcare workers, enabling them to continue Linda’s mission of volunteerism and selfless service to others.
With her gentle soul, open heart, and enduring smile, Linda Peterson was easy to love. We will never forget her.
