Considering Hospice

At Bethany, our focus is quality of life for individuals living with a life-limiting illness. We offer a holistic approach to care and address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of patients and their families.

What is Hospice?

Hospice is a specialized type of care for people facing a life limiting illness. We help individuals and their families achieve the highest possible quality of life when a cure is not attainable or aggressive medical treatment is no longer desired. At this juncture, the primary focus shifts to the quality of life. Hospice is available to anyone with an appropriate diagnosis choosing to pursue a course of comfort care.

Where does care take place?

Hospice care is provided in an individual’s home, assisted living residence, nursing facility or hospital. We provide supplemental care to support the patient's primary caregiver. Individuals who live independently in a home setting are accepted, as are those who need assistance with all tasks of daily living.

About the Hospice Benefit

The hospice benefit is a comprehensive set of services designed for patients and their families coping with a life-limiting illness. Hospice is covered by insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, and most private insurers. Most patients experience no out-of-pocket costs, and many see cost savings from covered services.
